About Minesweeper
Minesweeper is the classic logic puzzle that has come with computers for decades. A rectangular board hides a number of mines, and your job is to uncover every safe square without setting one off. This version adds a campaign of increasingly difficult levels, lots of options to customize the game and smooth animations.
How the Numbers Work
In Minesweeper, click a square to reveal it. If it hides a mine, the game is over. If not, it shows a number that tells you how many of the eight surrounding squares contain mines. A square with no neighboring mines is blank, and all the squares around it open up automatically, which is why a single lucky click can clear a big area.
Flag the Mines
When the numbers prove that a square must hide a mine, mark it with a flag. Flags keep you from clicking it by accident and make the remaining clues easier to read. Win by revealing every safe square on the board.
Campaign, Custom Games and Tutorial
Work through the campaign, where each level is harder than the last, or set up a game exactly the way you like it. New players can follow the detailed tutorial, which explains the rules step by step before you face a real board.
Tips From Experienced Players
Start in a corner or the middle and look for the number 1 next to a single hidden square: that square is a mine. Work outward from what you know for certain and avoid guessing until you have no other choice.
