About Spades

Spades is a free version of the classic four player card game. You and a partner play as a team against two opponents, and the computer fills the other seats, so you can start a game any time. Each round is about bidding how many tricks you think you can win and then making that bid come true.

Bid, Then Deliver

Before the cards are played, every player makes a bid. Your team then works together to win at least as many tricks as you promised. Bidding too low wastes points, and bidding too high can cost you, so a good bid is half the battle.

Teamwork With AI Partners

Your partner is played by the computer. Watching which cards your partner plays helps you decide when to take a trick and when to let them have it.

Blind Nil and Bonus Rounds

For bold players, Spades includes blind nil, a risky bid where you promise to win no tricks at all without looking at your cards first. If the scores end in a tie, bonus rounds decide the winner.

Learn With the Tutorial

New to the game? A full tutorial walks you through the rules step by step, so you can learn while you play in a calm, relaxed setting.

Tips for New Players

Count your high cards and spades before you bid. Save your strongest spades for when they matter most. Pay attention to the bids around the table, since they tell you a lot about who holds the best cards.

You can play Spades online for free on Yup7 with nothing to download, on computers and Chromebooks. Spades is one of many free board and card games on our Puzzle Games page.
